Feeling overwhelmed can be crippling to some; t causes an impairment in thinking clearly, symptoms of depression, irritability. When you're feeling overwhelmed, focus on one happy thought and begin to feel the sense of peace overcome your mind. Remember this takes to take effect so don't throw in the towel if it doesn't work in seconds. Once you feel that inner peace, take one thought with the easiest solution and only manage that one thought. You'll feel more accomplished once that is completed and be able to move forward. This is a good practice to allow for self-regulation. Focus only on what you can control; do not let what is beyond your control overtake your thoughts which cause more feelings of overwhelmness.
